Bank of Montreal is Canada's oldest financial institution founded in 1817. The bank is headquartered in Montreal, the largest city in Quebec, Canada. BMO Bank of Montreal is Canada’s fifth largest bank by deposits. It operates various divisions into consumer banking, insurance, credit cards, investment banking and asset management services including Harris Bank, a Chicago based bank acquired in 1984. The Bank of Montreal issues a line of credit cards under the Mosaik name. These cards are generally issued on the MasterCard with most incorporating MasterCard's PayPass, a technology requiring holders to flash their cards rather than swipe or insert them into a device. BMO Bank of Montreal operates over 1,100 branches internationally with 900 inside Canada. The bank had nearly 40,000 employees as at 2008.
